New Publication: Using Digital Badges for Recognition of Soft Skills

How can digital badges be used to meaningfully recognize soft skills in higher education?
In this new peer reviewed study, researchers Daiva Urmonienė, Indrė Oleskeviciene, and Rimantė Čepauskienė from LieDM (Lithuanian Distance Education Network) explore effective practices for the use of open digital badges in soft skills recognition.

Combining theoretical analysis with a real-life case study conducted at a university using the Moodle virtual learning platform, the authors examine how digital badges were designed and applied to support student learning and engagement. The publication highlights how such badges can serve as transparent, motivating tools for acknowledging students’ non-formal and transversal competencies.

This research offers valuable insights for educators, instructional designers, and institutions seeking to enhance recognition of soft skills through digital solutions.
